I started painting faces when my daughter was in pre-primary school, 13 years ago. I used to volunteer with arty things, so when someone suggested we face paint the children, I looked into it. I had no idea what I was doing and the only paints I could find were liquids. I borrowed books from the library as we didn’t have the internet back then.

I started getting a few Birthday Party jobs after that day and before I knew it I had a business to run. Then I discovered the internet and realised the big wide world had a lot more to offer. Once I had my new Kryolan palettes and some decent brushes it changed my whole way of painting, I had to start all over! I did my first body painting job for free and that opened up a lot of doors for me, I became very busy working in nightclubs and for corporate promotions etc.

In 2007 I was approached by Illusion Magazine to publish a book, The Little Book of Face Painted Fairies. It was launched in Orlando and the first edition has sold out. I am very happy to announce that I will be launching Volume 2 at this convention. I am on Face Book if anyone would like to drop in and say hi and have a look at some of my work . . . I look forward to meeting you all in October.

Cheers. Suzanne Mykolajenko
